IT is Finished - 201

S cripture

Revelation 19:6, “Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:

“Hallelujah!
For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
Let us rejoice and be glad
and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.”

Revelation 20:10, “And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”

Revelation 21:6, “He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7 He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.

8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Revelation 22:12, “Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

20 “He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’ [quickly]

Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.”

O bservation

I love how Revelation culminates with the declaration of Christ’s return!

A pplication

Actually, the NIV translation of “soon” is not great. The KJV or NASB both prefer “quickly.” “Speedily” (without delay) is even better than “soon.” It’s more HOW he will come than the timeframe in which it will happen.

Having said that, it’s been 2,000 years! What’s he waiting on??

He is waiting for the spread of the Gospel all across the earth.

The earth’s population is around 7 billion at this time. The highest in history. More souls on this earth than ever. More believers than ever.

More sin than ever…

2 Peter 3:9 states, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

When Jesus spoke of his return in Matthew 24…

“No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left. 42

“Therefore keep watch,

… because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because…

the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”

P rayer

Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

    Yes! Come, Lord Jesus!

  2. Genesis 1:1-2 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

Revelation 21:6 And he also said, “It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life.

Thinking back to day #1 of this journey, it seems like such a long time ago. It’s been 1 year though. A tiny speck of time compared to things being formless and empty with darkness covering the waters.

I think back to all that has happened this year. We had a visit from Randy Clark and several other conferences with Marc Dupont. The great times I’ve had on the worship team running sound or filling in on the drums. We’ve held 2 24 hour worship events, 1 of which we managed to fill the entire 24 hours. We’ve had drought and catastrophes. There were several tragic shootings the most horrific involving small children. I’ve been struggling with a health issue that has kept me on the sideline for the last three months, but overall, I have to say it was a great year.

    Add Scott Sliver turned 50.

The man made calendar changes to a new set of numbers after today, but time keep marching on.

Father. Thank you for Your words written for us to read and for giving us Your spirit to understand them. Seal these words upon our hearts so that we can grow deeper in relationship with you individually and as a church family. Thank you for this family of believers, God. Continue to pour out Your spirit as we walk in humble obedience loving You and serving others. I speak blessing to everyone in the name of Christ Jesus.

    Amen.

  3. Rev.21:3 Now the dwelling of God is with man and he will live with them they will be his people and God himself will be with them and be their God.4) he will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain for the old order of things ahs past away.
A whole year! Ive learned so much yet so much to learn. While we are living in a fallen world we have hope in a God that is faithful and wants us AS WE ARE! We are not required to do anything but receive His love. He wants our “hurts, hang ups and issues” as pastor Kevin Hoffman stated sat. Eve service. Not by our works or anything weve done. Its for everyone. God has no exceptions. There is nothing too far or too bad that God cannot repair. All we need to do is ask.
Father thank you for this year long journey with my church family. Thank you for your grace that surrounds us and covers us. Thank you for giving us pastor Scott Sliver to help us on our journey. I cant wait to see what happens next!

Thank you Scott for EVERYDAY ! I really appreciated this past year. It made me more aware of how truly connected we all, as believers in Christ, are, through The Word that was made flesh. Well done
