Welcome to Day 307 of our Life Journal!
Before you comment or read what I have posted, please read the following passages for yourself and complete your own S.O.A.P. exercise… How does this work?
S.O.A.P = Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer
Job 25:5, “If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in his eyes, 6 how much less a mortal, who is but a maggot—a human being, who is only a worm!”
Mark 13:13, “Everyone will hate you because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.”
Mark 14:8, “She did what she could.”
What a great memorial, “She did what she could.”
I doubt God expects us to do more than we are able.
I’m sure there are times when we will all be stretched… and we all know the saying, “God will never give you more than you can handle.” (which is not in the Bible… it may be derived from 1 Corinthians 10:13 about temptation, but that verse is different than that phrase.)
Reading through Job, now 25 of the 42 chapters, actually, just the first 2 chapters is all you need, to know God can and will allow us to experience difficulty, trials and even pain.
But our problems have a purpose.
To grow us, to test us, and to… gulp… reveal our character.
Peter wrote of us sharing in his suffering that we may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. Peter uses the word “suffer” nineteen times in 1 Peter alone!
It’s not fun. And I don’t like it…
But I’m looking forward to when his glory is revealed!
Lord strengthen me according to your word, that I might walk uprightly before you.
